What our guests are saying

“The best place I’ve ever stayed!”

The location, as has been noted, is incredible, an amazing view to wake up to or swan around in the pool and . The staff are a lot of fun and always looking to make friends, great at joining travelling groups together. The things they organise such as the tubing or the trip to semuc champe are incredible experiences.

I’ve read below people complaining about 2 main things, the price and the rooms. The rooms aren’t fancy, I personally don’t expect them to be in a youth hostel in the mountains of Guatemala. As for the prices they’re really not bad, especially considering the quality of the food, but just keep an eye on it as the tab can get you if you go crazy.

On the whole, I’ve never had so much fun anywhere I’ve stayed and the other guests seemed to agree. Go here!

“Great place to stay”

I was initially unimpressed with Zephyr – quite awkward to book (because they let their guests stay as long as they like, you can’t book until the day before which is tricky in a country with limited wifi), no truck showed up to collect us in Lanquin so we had to walk in the rain, and they insist on taking your passports as they operate a tab system of payment. Once I got past these things I had a great time, the lodge itself is really cool. The food is really good, if a bit expensive and there are good drinks offers. Tab system is a bit dangerous though, a lot of people ended up spending much more than planned. We did both the tubing and the tour to Semuc Champey organised by the hostel. Tubing could easily be skipped, but the Semuc Champey tour was the highlight of my whole trip – caving with candles, tubing, hiking to the viewpoint and then swimming in the pools. There was a great atmosphere in the lodge, overall I really enjoyed my stay.

“Resort for back packers. 5 min walk to town”

Fantastic place to stay while in Lanquin awesome staff

The food and drinks were certainly a little over priced but the scenery made up for it. You don’t have to eat every meal or drink every drink at the hostel, the town was a 5 min walk away and has some cool little dining spots and a market.

So I think for the people who are complaining about the food and drink prices didn’t look outside the hostel.
Comfortable good sized beds in a spacious room. A lot of thought has not only gone into the grand design but a lot of detail and practicality has been thought out.

I say it’s good value for what it is!  A beautiful resort for backpackers for an extra couple bucks a night..
Great work. Love what you’re doing.
